Shawna Wright is the Principal at Growing Big Ideas, a consultancy focused on promoting growth, innovation, and change through the elevation of human performance. By infusing diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and anti-racism (DEIBA) into workplace culture, and enhancing leadership, skills development, and continuous quality improvement (CQI), she has created lasting success within organizations, leaders, and teams. Bringing her extensive experience across industry sectors and leveraging her decade of experience in workforce development designing and implementing Department of Labor funded training and employment programs for diverse and unsupported communities, Shawna created, delivered, and facilitated trainings, strategy and planning sessions, and brave conversations surrounding DEIBA, leadership, skills development, CQI, and system integration for organizations across the country. Partners love her approachable and authentic demeanor and her willingness and courage to stand with them as they work through and unpack organizational challenges to clear the way for belonging, growth, and success.
With a passion for people, Shawna uses her expertise and skills within her community. She serves as the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Officer for the Executive Board of Leadership Long Beach where is leading and supporting the organization in charting, developing, and implementing the DEIBA strategies and initiatives with engagement of their board and over 3,500 alumni. She also served on the board of the Southern California Cannabis Council where she supported the pillar focuses of Social Justice and Equity, Education and Training, and Economic Development, as well as a member of the Junior League of Long Beach’s Policy and Advocacy Committee. Shawna earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Education from the historic Alabama A & M University and has coursework towards a Ph.D. in Human and Community Services at Capella University and a certificate in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Workplace from University of South Florida. She is a JL and ToP trained facilitator and holds the certification of Brave Conversations Facilitator from the Beyond Color Blind Institute.
